Snapped

I was taking a couple pictures of miscellaneous things while Jordan napped today. Dylan was extra cheery, so I got one of his beautiful face. Snap.

Then, I walked through the kitchen to go outside, pausing to admire the clock and wall background combination. Snap.

At the front porch, I noticed the rocking chairs were chipping. I started to think that I would need to repaint them next summer, then deciding that I like them better weathered. Snap.

My eyes wandered to the front door, where I noticed that I still had a wreath on my door from spring, and I knew I had one for the fall (I'm no animal, I'll have you know) So, I walked towards the basement (where all seasonal stuff is stashed) and saw the little yellow "pull" for the basement doors. Snap.

The very moment my foot stepped onto the concrete, I dropped my camera, sending it directly to its untimely demise.

These were the last images caught by my beloved camera. The entire lens is bent and dented in. It won't turn on, collapse, let me view images....nothing. I was able to get the pictures off using my (not-so-stupid-now), overpriced-but-needed-it-for-work, fancy-dancy printer.

It sounds ridiculous- most likely very materialistic- I don't care. I am devastated.

When I read "that" sentence, my balls crawled back in my body and my stomach rolled. You have my deepest sympathy. I'll be right over with a casserole and a shoulder to cry on.

This is going to require drugs and strength, Sarah. Cry, let it all out. Will there be a service?

Much valium needed.

I will be getting another. I know it will help me move on. (Sobbing sounds) It was like a part of our (sobbing, sobbing, more sobbing sounds) family.

Yep- the service will be after I get another camera. (Sobbing)

Monty, are you insinuating Sarah (gasp!) MURDERED her camera, knowing full well she could make it look like an accident?

Oh, the evil.

If I had balls, I dare say that like Jock's, mine would have crawled back in my body as well.

I am devastated for you and for us, your admirers.

What fantastic photos you took. I tote my camera around with me and I think to myself, "what would Sarah take a photo of" - mine come out looking like crap and I think to myself, why oh why can't I take photos like Sarah.

I'll be over with a pan of brownies, 2 boxes of kleenex and some sort of foreign beer.

Please let me know when the memorial service is. I'll need to attend.

In the meantime, I own a camera just like this...start saving your pennies/take donations:

Monty, there are easier and less painful ways to get a new camera. I haven't thought of them yet. But, I'm sure they're out there.

Jock, in the den with the candlestick.

Sher. Thank you for such kind words. Nice camera, by the way. Something like that shouldn't allow anyone to take bad pictures. I'm sure there's a "shit meter" on it somewhere around all those buttons.

Oh, and no need to be too fancy, domestic beer will do just fine- the porch lite is on, come on in....brownie first.

So sorry for your loss. You do take the most wonderful pictures! Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help. If it make it a bit less painful, know this, Mike and I went through 2 $300 cameras in 1 year. Have you thought about a burial place?
