Recess

The weather has been nothing short of amazing. The crisp January mornings have been a perfect start to our increasingly busy days. Dylan is finally old enough to skip his afternoon naps and still act like he is part of the same species; so my afternoons are reserved for The Dylan, as Jordan sleeps soundly upstairs. Since Jordan's transformation to a normal child of one year, I cannot seem to get enough of him. I think he feels the same.

For these reasons, I need to take a weeks hiatus, or hibernation (depends on the weather) to etch these times to my memory. I fear that it's going too fast.

So, feel free to come in and make yourself a nice cup of tea. There should be a couple of Christmas cookies in the freezer, eat them up, you're looking too skinny. Leave your dishes in the sink-I won't be long.

they do grow up so fast, too fast, the little buggers. I wish I had taken 6 months off. If only I'd known. Mini-me is now 25 months old, conversational (well, one of her first words was ambulance) and I feel that period of exciting new daily surprises is past. Hope not.

Still, I have a sneaking suspicion you might have an odd photo or two to remind you of these times on some cold wintry night 20 years hence.

I like the pic of the cone. I think I'll copy the composition. Thanks (like theft but more polite).

Sarah: I so love the first photo. You are such a talented morsel. I also helped myself to the tea, cookies and made myself at home of the front porch. Just try and get rid of me!

Jock- I left the power washer on the side of the house. You could've done something while sitting there. Sheesh.

Sarah: I was too busy taking in the Norman Rockwell-type scene. Your front porch is my new "happy place."
